The Night of the Rat

The group regroups after bedroom scen. As they discuss their next plans the warning bell sounds and people run for their homes. They grab riding horses and flee the city. As they escape and band of the dukes guards is hot on the trail. The group attacks them with spells from afar. They escape the town of Hillshire unscathed.
They head north following along a pretty decent sized stream. Several days into their journey, the stream turns to muck and the putrid smell of decay surrounds them. They notice that all of their food, water, & potions are spoiled. Then this huge rat with no eyes attacks. As the battle ensues with this hideous hungry rat, Nyrissa hits the thing with a fireball. Though the creatures takes damage, it howls a moan of ecstasy as it pops out baby rats everywhere (gremlins style). The group eventually kills the rat and most of the babies. the rest Graz'nuk takes as pets. It is determined that these magic beasts poison food & drink just by their presence.
The group arrives a few days later in Notworth. The city is Gorgeous and plush with a good economy due to its location on the trade route. The adventurers rent a place to stay while Marcus visits with his local church. They hatch a plan to poison all of the food and water to the town. They buy a powerful aging potion. Graz'nuk calculates how much of a dose is needed to age the baby rat to adult. Narissa prepares boxes that when broken a fire spell goes off. They set the rat traps all over town. As they are leaving, one by one the traps set off and the streets are filled with rats. The infestation is so large that it is safe to say no one will ever eat or drink here again.

  1. Thanks be to Konatee and her high priest's great wisdom.

I came to him to discuss my descent into darkness. I have been at war with myself for the evil deeds I have sewn and worse yet, enjoyed. I have felt a great need to atone, but no more.

As is the grace of the god of the gods I see my path clearly now and I realized that I have not strayed from what is true. It is fact that I unconsciously have been walking the line of balance.

Here in a kingdom of goodness I and my brothers are its counter weight, here we bring balance with our ill deeds. I shall question the ethics no more and walk proudly as the slayer of many.

Down may this mighty city of Notworth fall into strife, plague and decay.

We have brought with us the infestation and will leave this city in a wake of devastation that shall forever change the territory.

My brothers and I shall be remembered, not by name, but history will always show the time of eclipsed light of Ion and Notworth!

  2. Praise to almighty Konatee, Creator of all!

There were times when my frail humanity let me down, but to see how our glorious work came to such a horrifying crescendo allayed all my fears and misgivings.

I silently wondered if all the evil surrounding me would swallow me up whole.

Now I feel stronger then i've felt in years. I even think my companions are beginning to see the light (perhaps the Orc-bitch might be more difficult to convince, but we will see).

To put that abominable rat in our way, guide the dog to keep one as a pet, and then to see our plan as clear as day has convinced me that no matter what i do, Konatee guides me.

Praise to almighty Konatee, Creator of all!

  3. After being chased by the armored dogs of Hillshire and vanquishing the knights sent to slay us we decide to send a message. After eating the hearts of our enemies I chiseled the symbol of Ion into the corpses foreheads. Then, with the draconic powers I wield, raised the group as Ghasts and sent 11 to pillage while the twelfth would hold the holy book of the accursed god of good high above its head and sent them in a roundabout course back to Hillshire.

The rat was interesting, keeping one of its offspring proved to be fortuitous.

Upon reaching Notworth, having half of the party delayed, I decide to sequester another armorsmith and blacksmith away to complete the unholy ritual that was contained in my book. Upon completion, a 12 foot iron statue of a dragon warrior came to life, completely under my control. Not only did it dispatch its own workmen with ease, it will help me keep those within the party in line to my wishes.

After my own needs were seen to those who were available saw the wisdom of my plan. Costly, yes, but it would be easier then needing to go toe-to-toe with an army of lordly Paladins, curse their souls. Raining fire-loving rats who will poison the places they inhabit was perfect. It will hopefully kill the good in the town forever and have some of this army held at bay so that we may be victorious in our plans.
